Three wishes

If I were granted three wishes to make for you

The first would be for wonder
Slow down and watch the fiery sunset
See the ant crawl up the withered branch
Enjoy the warm sunshine of a smile
There is much joy to be found in small moments

The second wish would be for health
Be conscious and aware and vigilant
Of how you nourish your body
What you feed your mind
How you cherish your soul
Don’t sell these things short
to anything or anyone

The third wish would be for adventure
Never be afraid to fail
Make as many mistakes as it takes
to do the things you want to achieve

And this above all
Follow your own heart
Fearlessly

Meiosis

A perfect sphere
drawn from the sun
A slender watery arrow poised and pierced
the separation has begun

two lungs halved
for every breath I dared to draw
four quarters
accounting every corner of my heart
for every sense that could embrace you
and the sixth that could intuit you

for all of you that emerged from the surface of infinity
and shared with us a glimpse of consciousness
and for you who decided to grab on
hold strong

unto this flower of life.

Don’t go
she whispered

but he didn’t hear
his feet was crunching up the gravel path
his coat a flagship against the bitter wind
his umbrella pirouetting on the icy rain
he returned to his tortoise-shell office
the hibernation-cave room.

Taste Spring
she pleaded
stay

with me.

Holding the sacred space

There was a woman that I loved
She turned into a lizard
Her skin scaly and razor-sharp to the touch
Yet, I did not let her go

She turned into a snake
Slithering and venomous
Her fangs widened to poison
Yet, I did not let her go

She turned into a dragon
Her fire consumed and obliterated
Everything around her
And in the ashes I could see once more
The woman that I loved.
